Tips to save on food, ingredients and table settings
Tips to save on food- ingredients and table settings

•        Choose seasonal ingredients and use them in many applications of the menu. For example, if you find great
butternut squash that is priced well during this time of the year you may roast it for a side dish, use in a salad and
substitution for pumpkin for dessert such as pumpkin pie, pudding or crème brulee. Design your menu around specially
priced ingredients is the key for significant savings.

•        Using canned or frozen items is not only time saving but also cost effective. They usually are of fine quality and
freshness and are available in all sorts of varieties and price range.

•        Dinner Table Centerpiece: Thanksgiving is all about cherished family and friends.  Show then how special they
are to you by framing pictures of them from past memorable times and events. Place them amongst items that you can
find in your garden to make a dramatic centerpiece. Your guests will find this idea creative and rewarding.  Proving you
choose a good picture of them.  If you don’t have a garden choose inexpensive seasonal flowers or plants at the market
to place in between the frames.

•        Create a drink of the evening and name it appropriately.  This is certainly a great way to save money and create
a buzz of conversation.  Be careful to choose the appropriate drink that you know your guests will like. My suggestion is
a (vin chaud) or warm wine this is a specialty of the burgundy wine country, the ratio of wine to juice is 1 to 2 it is filled
with spices and wonderful holiday aromas. You may also prepare a  sparkling wine drink.  If you choose to make a
punch make sure you serve it in martini glasses name the drink after your last name just add (ini) at the end. i.e.

•        Flavor it up; using herbs and spices is a wonderful way to take simple inexpensive and plain food to an impressive
level. This will reduce the amount of ingredients that you need to buy per dish, thus reducing cost. You would be
surprised at what you already have in your home pantry that can give anything from steamed broccoli or roasted
potatoes an outstanding flavor and gourmet feel.

Remember that usually we tend to have leftovers so you can stretch this meal into a few more.
